We at Brunel are delighted that our Boy Luke is back at Albion to help them finish the season on a high!
Back in December 2019, we were all gutted when he got the devastating blow of a ruptured achilles, I remember the game well, watching from the comforts of the old merchandise shop in abysmal weather when Luke went down, I knew it wasn’t good.
The bad news did not stop there as the surgeon advised that he would need a bone fusion operation, this in turn would give him the flexibility in his foot to be able to scrum, something we know Luke is vitally important for.
Due to Luke’s work commitments he decided not to have the operation as it would prove costly with all the time off. He not only works full time at Brunel, but helps his father run their farm back in Liskeard. At the time, Luke was gutted, but knew that he had made the right decision for the future.
Luke has gone from strength to strength at Brunel and is now an integral part of the company, rising to management very quickly through the ranks.
The turning point in Luke’s rugby career came when Mark Mears, our Sports Therapist at Albion used his shiny new shockwave machine on him as a sort of guinea pig for the new equipment. The machine couldn’t have worked better, and it dramatically reduced the calcium build up on the ankle bones, leaving Luke about to put his boots back on!!
Luke started off 2022 steadily playing a few games for local club Liskeard Looe before re-signing for us at Albion. He played his first 15mins at Caldy last weekend and will be on the bench again this weekend. We are so happy to see Luke back!!
